Board and Leadership

Run by Volunteers, Inspired by Curiosity

Third Age Learning York Region (TALYR) is proudly governed and operated entirely by a dedicated, small group of volunteers from your local community. We have no paid staff—every semester of world-class lectures, every technological link, and every community partnership is brought to life by peers who believe that learning has no retirement age.

Because we are a lean team, we are always looking for passionate members to help us share the load, preserve our community continuity, and shape the future of TALYR.

Interested in joining the behind-the-scenes team? We are currently seeking community members for specific, rewarding volunteer roles. Please visit our Volunteer Opportunities Page to see how you can get involved!

Program Committee

While the Board handles governance, our Program Committee is the creative engine of TALYR. This team dedicates their time to reviewing speaker applications, vetting academic topics, and ensuring our semesters maintain a vibrant, high-quality balance of history, science, the arts, and current affairs.
